Quick help with tasks, rewards, money, and your Family Hub.
Getting Started
What is new in Chorby 2.0?
One app for the whole family's tasks. Each person can use it their own way.
- Map or list: explore an Adventure Map or use a simple task list.
- Rewards: choose Gems, Cash, or an optional allowance for each person.
- Parents too: track your own tasks, with or without rewards.
- Shared tasks: let everyone help, take turns, or pick up extra jobs.
- Money Plans: track task earnings and optional weekly allowance.
- Daily Goals: choose how much each person needs to finish each day.
- Family Hub: see the family's tasks on one shared tablet.
Optional photo proof, approvals, reminders, widgets, and Apple Watch support are here too.
Can parents and older kids use Chorby too?
Yes. Chorby works for the whole family, including parents.
- Younger kids might like Gems and a map.
- Older kids might like Cash and a task list.
- Parents can track tasks without rewards.
These are choices, not age rules. You can also use Cash across the whole household.
Add a task profile for each person in Family. A task profile is not a parent login. Only adults with parent access can manage the family.
How do I choose Gems, Cash, or an optional allowance for each person?
Choose a reward style for each family member:
- Open Family and edit the person.
- Find Rewards.
- Choose Gems & Rewards, Cash, or the no-rewards option.
- Save.
- Gems & Rewards: earn points to spend in the Gem Shop. Cash and allowance are optional extras.
- Cash: earn money for tasks. No Gems or Gem Shop.
- No rewards: track tasks and celebrate progress without Gems or Cash.
Changing one person's style does not change anyone else's. You can also review these choices in Household Setup.
Tip: Keep the family's Rewards System on if anyone wants rewards. Turning it off stops rewards and map progress for everyone.
Where can I find guided tutorials?
Follow a short tour inside the app:
- Open parent Settings.
- Find Support & More.
- Tap Tutorials and choose a topic.
Tours cover family setup, tasks, rewards, and progress. Kids have tours in their own dashboard too. Their tours match their map or list and reward style.
How do I create a family account?
A parent or legal guardian starts the family. Kids use family profiles, so they do not need their own Apple or Google login.
- Install Chorby on your phone or tablet.
- Tap Choose a new Chorby! on the welcome screen.
- Follow setup to add people and choose Chorby companions.
- Sign in with Apple or Google on iPhone or iPad. On Android, use Google.
- Set up Chorby Plus or a trial, if you qualify. Parent access needs a subscription.
- Pick each person's tasks, reward style, and map or list.
Chorby is on iPhone and iPad, with Apple Watch support. An Android app exists too. It is not on the public Google Play store yet.
How do I add a child to my family?
- Open Family and tap Add Family Member or '+'.
- Enter their name and choose a Chorby companion.
- Pick their age group.
- Choose Gems & Rewards, Cash, or the no-rewards option under Rewards.
- Under Task Experience, turn Adventure Map on for a map or off for a list.
- Add weekly allowance in Money Plan if you want it.
- Save.
Each person gets their own tasks and progress. Your family can mix reward styles.
How do I add another parent or guardian?
They can join your family with their own login.
- Open Settings → Household Setup.
- Set a Parent PIN if you do not have one.
- Reveal and copy your Family ID.
- Share the Family ID and Parent PIN with the other adult.
- They install Chorby and tap Join Existing Family.
- They enter the Family ID and Parent PIN.
- They choose I'm a Parent and sign in with their own account.
Once joined, they can manage tasks, family members, rewards, and approvals. Both adults see the same family data when their devices are online.
How do my kids access their dashboard?
- Open the Hub tab in your parent dashboard.
- Find Family Adventure Zone and tap Enter.
- On Who's Playing?, have your child tap their name. Enter their Profile PIN if one is set.
- Their Adventure Map or task list opens.
Their reward style decides what else they see:
- Gems: the Gem Shop.
- Cash: their Money Plan.
- No rewards: tasks without Gems or Cash.
Tip: Set a Parent PIN to protect parent controls. An optional Profile PIN keeps siblings out of one person's profile.
Managing Tasks
What are Everyone, Open, Rotate, and Occasional tasks?
These choices decide who does a task:
- Everyone: each person you select does the task.
- Open: an extra job anyone selected can pick up. The first to finish gets the set reward. You can also assign it from the Hub's Open column.
- Rotate: people take turns. Set turns by day, week, or month.
- Occasional: an extra task with no deadline. It is never late.
Open and Rotate need at least two people.
Note: Open and Occasional tasks can pay their set reward. They do not count toward daily task totals, XP, Daily Goals, streaks, or progress bonuses. They have no missed-task penalties.
Can one shared task pay different rewards to different people?
Yes. The same task can have a different reward for each person.
- Give Gems to one person.
- Give Cash to another.
- Set a different amount for each.
- A person tracking without rewards can help without payment.
Choose the people and set their rewards in the task editor. Each person's reward follows their reward style.
Allowance rules only apply to people who have weekly allowance turned on.
How do skips and Past Due tasks affect progress?
Skips can help with a day's goal, but they do not pay a task reward.
- A task must allow skipping.
- The skip must be approved.
- Finish at least one scheduled task that day before skips help the Daily Goal.
- Skips alone do not add XP.
Past Due tasks do not count toward today's Daily Goal. Open and Occasional tasks have no due date, so they never appear in Past Due.
How do I create a new task?
- Open Tasks and tap '+' or Add New Task.
- Enter a name. Choose an icon and color.
- Select who should do it. You can include a parent's task profile.
- Choose Everyone, Open, Rotate, or Occasional.
- Set each person's Gems or Cash reward, or no payment.
- For scheduled tasks, choose time blocks and repeat days.
- Open Advanced options for optional photo proof or parent approval.
- Save.
Note: Weekly allowance is separate from task earnings. Open and Occasional tasks have no time blocks or due dates.
How do I assign tasks to specific family members?
- Create or edit a task.
- Select the people who should see it. You can include a parent's task profile.
- Choose the task type.
- Save.
- Everyone: each selected person does it.
- Rotate: selected people take turns.
- Open: selected people can pick up an extra job.
- Occasional: optional work with no deadline.
Open and Rotate need at least two people.
How do I make a task repeat?
- Create or edit a scheduled task.
- Tap its repeat schedule row.
- Pick a schedule and save.
Quick choices are Every day, Every weekday, Every Saturday, and Every Sunday. Choose Custom for:
- Certain days, such as Monday and Wednesday.
- An interval, such as every two weeks.
- Set dates in the month.
You can also choose a start date, an end date, or Does not repeat. Open and Occasional tasks have no due dates.
What are time blocks and how do they work?
Time blocks group scheduled tasks by time of day:
- Morning: 5 AM–noon.
- Afternoon: noon–5 PM.
- Evening: 5 PM–11 PM.
- Any time: all day.
If you pick Morning and Evening, the task needs a separate check-off in each block. Each one counts toward the Daily Goal and can earn its set reward.
Open and Occasional tasks have no time block. They stay in Optional and do not count toward the day's scheduled progress.
How do I require photo proof for a task?
Photo proof is optional. It stays off until you turn it on for a task.
- Create or edit a task.
- Open Advanced options.
- Turn on Require photo proof.
- Save.
Your child sends a photo of the finished work. You can review it in Chorby.
- Photos are not public. Only allowed members of your household can see them in the app.
- Our service providers process photos to run this feature.
- Turning photo proof off does not delete old photos.
- Profile avatars and reward images are separate. Kids can still change their avatar.
How do I require parent approval for tasks?
- Edit the task.
- Open Advanced options.
- Turn on Parent approval required.
- Save.
Finished tasks go to Pending Approvals on your parent Hub. Check the task and any photo, then choose:
- Approve: give the set Gems or Cash reward.
- Reject: no reward is given. The person can try again.
People tracking without rewards do not get a money or Gem payment.
Note: Pending tasks auto-approve after 24 hours. Reward purchases never auto-approve.
How do task streaks work?
A streak means reaching your Daily Goal on days in a row.
- Each person has their own goal, from 50% to 100%.
- Finish at least one scheduled task that day. Approved skips can then help.
- Open, Occasional, and Past Due tasks do not count.
- Missing the goal can reset the streak.
When streaks are on, bonus tiers start on day 2:
- Gems profiles get the Gem bonus.
- Cash profiles get the Cash bonus.
- Profiles without rewards keep the streak without a payment.
Change Daily Goals in each person's profile. Changes start tomorrow. Edit bonus tiers in Settings → Streak Settings.
Maps & Rewards
Can I use a task list instead of the Adventure Map?
Yes. Each person can choose a map or a simple list.
- Open Family and edit the person.
- Find Task Experience.
- Turn Adventure Map off.
- Save.
They can also use the Adventure Map switch in their own Settings.
Tip: Switching to a list keeps the same task rewards. You can still earn progress bonuses when you meet their rules.
How does the Daily Goal work?
The Daily Goal is how much of today's scheduled work a person needs to finish.
- Choose a goal from 50% to 100% in their profile.
- A task repeated in two time blocks counts as two check-offs.
- Goal changes take effect tomorrow.
- Finish at least one scheduled task today. Approved skips can then help.
- Open, Occasional, and Past Due tasks do not count.
Reaching the goal helps keep a streak and move along the adventure path.
What are landmarks, streak bonuses, and badges?
They celebrate different kinds of progress:
- Landmarks: progress along the daily adventure path.
- Streak bonuses: reaching your goal on days in a row.
- Badges: hitting a milestone.
These are separate from task rewards and weekly allowance.
- Gems profiles can earn Gem bonuses.
- Cash profiles can earn Cash bonuses.
- Profiles without rewards get recognition without payment.
Parents manage badges and streak settings. You can still earn progress bonuses with the map turned off.
What is the Adventure Map?
The map gives kids a clear path through their daily tasks. Scheduled tasks build XP, or progress points, and move them toward landmarks.
Choose one of five themes:
- Forest.
- Desert.
- Ocean.
- Mountain.
- Cosmic.
Each person can use a map or a simple list. Turning the map off keeps task rewards and progress bonuses.
Note: Open and Occasional tasks can pay their set reward. They do not earn XP or map progress.
What are gems and how do they work?
Gems are points you earn in Chorby. They are not real money.
- Parents set how many Gems a task pays.
- Gems profiles earn them through tasks and bonuses.
- Spend them in the Gem Shop on rewards your family chooses.
- Rewards could be a movie night, an outing, or choosing dinner. Screen time is an optional reward too.
You cannot buy Gems with real money or exchange them for cash from Chorby. If your family offers a cash reward, parents provide that money.
Cash profiles and people tracking without rewards do not use the Gem Shop.
How do I add or remove Gems?
- Open Family.
- Tap the bank icon on the person's card.
- Open Gems.
- Tap Deposit to add Gems or Withdraw to remove them.
- Enter an amount and a note if you want one.
- Tap Add Gems or Remove Gems to finish.
Use this for a bonus, a gift, or a correction. These balance controls are for Gems profiles.
How do I create rewards for the Gem Shop?
- Open Rewards and tap '+' or Add Reward.
- Name the reward, such as Movie night or Choose dinner.
- Set the Gem cost.
- Choose which Gems profiles can see it.
- In Advanced options, add a description if you want one. Check Requires parent approval; it is on by default.
- Save.
Screen time is an optional reward. Cash profiles use task earnings and their Money Plan instead of the Gem Shop.
How do kids buy a Gem Shop reward?
For the child:
- Open the Gem Shop.
- Pick a reward you can afford.
- Tap Buy. The Gems leave your balance right away.
- If approval is needed, wait for your parent to review it.
For the parent:
- Open Reward Requests on your Hub.
- Review the request.
- Tap Approve and provide the reward, or tap Reject.
If you reject a purchase, the Gems go back to the child's balance.
Cash & Allowance
How does Cash mode differ from weekly allowance?
Cash pays for tasks. Allowance is a separate, optional weekly amount.
- Cash mode: set a money reward on a task. It goes into the person's balance when done, or after approval if needed.
- Weekly allowance: choose an amount and payday. Chorby records it each week.
- Use both, or use task Cash without allowance.
- Your whole family can use Cash. Cash profiles have no Gems or Gem Shop.
Chorby keeps the record. Parents provide the real money using their usual payment method.
What is a Money Plan?
A Money Plan shows how a person earns money. Parents can open Rewards → Money Plan to see:
- Weekly allowance and payday.
- Tasks needed for full allowance.
- Extra Cash from tasks.
- Recent money changes.
Cash profiles have a Money Plan even without allowance. Gems profiles can use one when allowance is on. Profiles without money rewards do not use one.
To change allowance, edit the person in Family. To change task pay, edit the task. Chorby's Bank is a record, not a real bank account.
How does the allowance system work?
Allowance is an optional weekly amount. It is separate from Cash earned for tasks.
- Open Family and edit the person.
- Find Money Plan and turn on Enable Allowance.
- Set a weekly amount and payday, then save.
- Chorby records the allowance each week. Parents provide the money.
You can require scheduled tasks for full allowance. You can also lower the amount for missed tasks. Open and Occasional tasks cannot be required.
Gems profiles can have allowance too. Profiles without rewards do not use money rewards.
Note: Chorby does not transfer money, connect to a bank, or issue a debit card.
How do I set up allowance for my child?
- Open Family and edit the person.
- Find Money Plan.
- Turn on Enable Allowance.
- Choose a Weekly allowance amount and Payday.
- Set a Missed-task deduction if you want one.
- Save.
To link a scheduled task, open its Gems or Rewards panel and turn on Weekly allowance. This links the task for selected people who already have allowance enabled.
Gems profiles can use allowance too. Cash profiles can earn task money with allowance turned off.
Can I require specific tasks for allowance?
Yes, for scheduled tasks. Open and Occasional tasks cannot be required.
- Enable allowance in the person's profile first.
- Create or edit a scheduled task and select the people.
- Open its Gems or Rewards panel.
- Turn on Weekly allowance and save.
This links the task only for selected people who already have allowance enabled. It does not turn allowance on for anyone. Use Individual Rewards if one person needs a different task reward.
Choose a Missed-task deduction in the person's profile to lower allowance by a set percent for each missed required task.
Example: A 5% deduction takes off 5% of the weekly amount per missed task. The total cut cannot be more than 100%.
How do I view my child's allowance history?
- Open Family.
- Tap the bank icon on the person's card.
- Open Cash or Allowance and check Transaction History.
History shows weekly allowance, task Cash, bonuses, and changes you entered. Money Plan shows their pay rules.
- Deposit: record money added.
- Withdraw: record money taken out.
- Note: add what the change was for.
A withdrawal entry does not send money. Parents provide the actual payment.
Account & Security
How do I set up or change the Parent PIN?
- Open Settings → Household Setup.
- On the Family ID card, tap Set Parent PIN. If you already have one, tap Manage Parent PIN.
- To change it, verify your current PIN first.
- Choose a new four-digit PIN and enter it again to confirm.
The Parent PIN protects:
- Returning from the Adventure Zone to parent controls on a shared device.
- Turning on Chorby Hub.
- Joining your PIN-protected family on a new device.
Keep it private from kids. They normally just tap their name to open their profile.
Tip: To keep siblings out of one profile, edit that person in Family and set a separate Profile PIN.
What if I get locked out of parent mode?
Reset it by proving you own the parent account:
- On a device signed in with your parent account, tap Forgot Parent PIN? on the PIN screen.
- Verify with your Apple or Google login. Older email-and-password accounts can use their account password.
- Choose a new four-digit Parent PIN and confirm it.
You can also open Settings → Household Setup → Manage Parent PIN → Forgot Parent PIN?
A device joined as a child cannot reset the Parent PIN. Use a parent's device instead. The new PIN works across your family's devices once they sync.
How do I change my account email or password?
Apple or Google manages the login for new families. You cannot change its email or password inside Chorby.
- Open Settings → Account & Login to see how you signed in.
- Change your login details in your Apple or Google account.
If you have an older email-and-password account, email support@chorbyapp.com for help with the email on file. Password changes are not available in Chorby.
How do I cancel my subscription or ask about a refund?
Cancel through the store where you first subscribed, even if you now use a different device.
- Apple: open iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Chorby.
- Google Play: open Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Chorby. You can also use play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions.
For refunds:
- App Store purchases: ask Apple.
- Play purchases: check Google's refund policy, or email support@chorbyapp.com for help.
Refunds depend on the law and the store's rules. Our Support page links to the store guides.
Remember: Deleting the app or your account does not cancel your subscription.
How do I delete my account?
Use an online device with parent controls turned on.
- Open Settings → Account & Login.
- Tap Delete Account and Data.
- Read the warning and confirm. Enter your Parent PIN if asked.
If you own the household:
- The household closes on our servers.
- Its family data is set for permanent deletion after 30 days.
- During those 30 days, email support@chorbyapp.com to ask to recover it.
- You can sign in and Start Fresh with a new household. This keeps your login but does not restore the old family.
If you only joined someone else's household:
- Your account and membership are removed right away.
- There is no 30-day recovery window for that account.
- The other members keep their household.
This device signs out. Other devices update when they reconnect. An offline device may still show saved data until then. We do not send a final deletion email.
See Delete Your Account & Data for full details. Cancel your subscription through Apple or Google Play separately.
Devices & Family Hub
What does the Family Hub do?
The Hub turns a shared tablet into a family task board.
- See the family's tasks in one place.
- Use it with different reward styles.
- Keep extra jobs in the Open column until someone takes them.
- Let kids check tasks without each needing a phone.
- Manage the same family from your own device.
The iPad and Android guides below explain how to set up and lock the tablet to Chorby.
Can we use Chorby offline?
Yes, for local tasks and saved family data.
- You can use tasks without an internet connection.
- Changes sync when the device goes back online.
- Other devices will not see those changes until they sync.
- Joining a family and some account actions need internet.
Tip: Go online before comparing balances or entering a correction. Sync recent work before reinstalling Chorby.
Can our family use Chorby on multiple devices?
Yes. Choose the setup that fits:
- One parent, several devices: install Chorby on each one. Use the same Apple or Google login.
- Another parent: they use their own login and join with your Family ID and Parent PIN. Do not share your login.
- Shared device: open Family Adventure Zone from the Hub tab while the parent stays signed in.
- A child's own device: use Join Existing Family and choose I'm a Kid. A parent helps enter the Family ID and Parent PIN, then the child picks their profile.
Online devices sync the same family data.
How do I set up a phone or tablet for my kids?
On a shared device:
- Install Chorby and sign in with your parent account.
- Set a Parent PIN in Settings → Household Setup.
- Open Hub → Family Adventure Zone → Enter.
- Have each child choose their name. Enter their Profile PIN if one is set.
On a child's own device:
- A parent opens Settings → Household Setup on their own device to get the Family ID.
- On the child's device, open Chorby and tap Join Existing Family.
- The parent enters the Family ID and Parent PIN, if set.
- Choose I'm a Kid, then the child's name.
Each child gets their own map or list and reward style. A child login cannot open parent controls.
Tip: For a kitchen or wall tablet, use Chorby Hub. The guides below explain how to keep the tablet in Chorby.
Why aren't my changes syncing between devices?
Try these steps:
- Check the internet on both devices.
- Make sure both are in the same household. A joined parent can use their own login.
- Pull down to refresh.
- Close and reopen Chorby.
- Install the latest app update.
Offline changes need internet to reach other devices. Do not reinstall while work has not synced.
Still different? Email support@chorbyapp.com with the device models, app versions, and what is missing.

- To leave, triple-click the same button, unlock, and tap End.
Note: Chorby's Parent PIN protects its Exit button. Guided Access blocks Home and switching apps.
Open the full setup guideHow do I keep kids from closing Chorby Hub on an Android tablet?
Use Android App pinning to keep the tablet in Chorby. It may be called Screen pinning or Pin windows.
- Turn on App pinning in Android Settings.
- Require the tablet's PIN, pattern, or password to unpin.
- Open Chorby Hub and pin the app.
- Chorby's Parent PIN protects Exit Hub.
- Android App pinning blocks Home and switching apps.
- On Samsung, choose Pin this app. Lock this app only keeps it in Recents; it does not block Home.

Why aren't tasks showing up for my child?
Check these first:
- Is the correct profile open?
- Is the task assigned to that person?
- Is today a repeat day, and has the start date passed?
- Is the right time block selected?
- Is the task active?
- Is it already marked done?
- Rotate: check whose turn it is.
- Open or Occasional: look in Optional, or the Hub's Open column.
Check these places before creating the task again.
Why weren't Gems or Cash awarded after a task?
Start with the person's reward style:
- Gems: earns the Gems set for that task.
- Cash: earns the Cash set for that task, not Gems.
- No rewards: no Gems or Cash payment.
Then check:
- Does the task have a reward amount set?
- Does it need approval? Check Pending Approvals.
- If the task needs a photo, was it sent?
- Are the devices online and synced?
Open and Occasional tasks can pay their set reward. They do not earn XP or progress bonuses.
Still missing? Email support@chorbyapp.com before adding the reward by hand. This helps avoid paying twice.
The app is running slowly or crashing
Try these steps:
- Close and reopen Chorby.
- Install the latest app update.
- Restart your device.
- Check that it has free storage space.
- Try Settings → Help & Support → Reload App.
Before reinstalling, go online and sync recent work.
Still stuck? Use Report an Issue in Settings or email support@chorbyapp.com. Include your device model, app version, and what you were doing.
I'm not receiving notifications
- Turn on Chorby notifications in your device settings.
- In Chorby, open Settings → Notifications. Turn on the types you want, including task reminders.
- Check that Do Not Disturb or Focus is not blocking them.
- If needed, sign out from Settings and sign back in.
This refreshes the device's notification setup.
